We’re stoked to announce the return of one of the most iconic collaborations in Sector 9 history — our partnership with world-renowned North Shore shorebreak photographer Clark Little. Our latest release, the Fractal Shave Ice, features one of Clark’s vivid wave images as the centerpiece of this stunning surf-style skateboard design.

The History of the Sector 9 and Clark Little Collaboration

Our journey with Clark Little began back in 2007, when Sector 9’s creative director discovered Clark’s groundbreaking photography in Surfing Magazine. Known for capturing jaw-dropping images of powerful Hawaiian shorebreaks crashing onto dry sand, Clark’s work immediately resonated with our surf-skate culture. A spontaneous outreach led to a warm response — and just like that, a long-term creative partnership was born.

The first launch included two boards featuring Clark’s art, and the response was incredible. Since then, Sector 9 has released over 20 skateboard decks showcasing Clark’s mesmerizing wave photography, each celebrating the deep connection between surf and skate.

Reviving a Classic: The Shave Ice Skateboard

With Sector 9’s original founders recently reacquiring the brand, one of their first moves was to revive meaningful collaborations — and the Clark Little skateboard collection was at the top of the list.

Founder Steve Lake reflects, “We were on the rise together. Clark’s fresh approach to surf photography paralleled the explosive growth of our new skateboard styles. It was a perfect match — and an incredibly fun time.”

The new Fractal Shave Ice skateboard captures Clark’s colorful “Shave Ice” wave image in a high-performance surf-style setup. Built on the Fractal shape, this board features 9” Sidewinder II trucks, 69mm Nineball wheels, and delivers ultra-smooth, fast carving — ideal for riders who love the fluid feel of surfing on pavement.
