Griptape // Mixtape: Volume #5

There is only one way to open our latest Griptape//Mixtape, and that’s with New York’s king of cool, the late Lou Reed. From there we lead you down an eclectic street of new music with jams by Nobunny, our new crush, Queen Kwong, and San Diego’s own Earthless. As Lou said, take a walk on the wild side, so we did.

New Music Tuesday #43 - Earthless

The sky has cracked and the ground has opened to welcome Earthless back to our planet. The San Diego heavy psych-rock trio lands here bearing a gift, the hour long monstrous jams of  "From the Ages”. This latest release, their first in 6 years,  is out on Tee Pee records and it’s a crusher. We suggest the double gold vinyl version earthlings.

New Music Tuesday #42 - Hank 3 Double Release

What better way to start Rocktober, with the harvest moon setting and the hellbillies rising. New Hank 3 records and tour out today!

Head hellbilly, HANK 3 is pleased to announce a triple-threat of new releases, hitting stores October 1, 2013. HANK3 will release a brand new DOUBLE country album, entitled Brothers of the 4×4, and a single punk album, entitled A Fiendish Threat, with his new project “3”. Brothers of the 4×4 will also be available as a single LP vinyl version, and A Fiendish Threat will be available as a double LP vinyl version. Recording in his own home and releasing music on his own label, the Megaforce distributed HANK3 Records, allowed Williams complete creative control during the four month period it took to make both records. Besides living the songs subject matter first, HANK 3 sang and played both guitar and drums on the records. As if pulling triple duty wasn’t enough, he engineered, produced, mixed and mastered all the tunes as well. Not bad for someone who in his own words is dyslexic and has ADD, according to HANK 3 “my mind is all over the place”.

New Music Tuesday #40 - Mini Death

Somewhere between Austin and San Diego we became friends with Mini DeathThe garage pop band played a Sector gig, threw us some vinyl singles, and made us smile ever since. The sunny rockers have just released their latest EP, 'A Loner, A Rebel', and it's on repeat in the office. Tess Passaro sings above vintage garage pop melodies that sound old, new, and very catchy all at the same time. Listen to the entire EP then buy it here, and become their friends like we did.: http://minideathlovesyou.com/

New Music Tuesday #39 - Rock Team Night #3

Did you miss the first two or were you there but can’t remember? Maybe you have only heard the rumors. But the 3rd Sector 9 Rock Team night is upon us, and we are bringing in three San Diego up-and-comers: Blackout Party, Low Volts, and Creepxotica.

It will be at the Griffin on September 25th and you’re all invited to come meet some special Sector 9 guests and view live art from a mystery artist.

These nights only work if you’re there with us!
