Just like Sector 9, June’s Griptape // Mixtape is all over the place. We kick off the summer with a fun and intense collection of new releases. From no brainers like the much hyped Daft Punk to the out-there new kids DZ Deathrays, this list is a trip, man.
Help our friends from Slightly Stoopid raise money for 6 year old San Diego native, Parker Shaw, who has been recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. This saturday at Sycuan Casino come rock with your friends and family to help Parker beat this disease!
North Carolina’s ASG are old friends of ours having lent us songs for our early videos and performing at some of our first shows; and that was before they were cool. Their 4th release and first on the Relapse label is another dose of their southern brand of psychedelic stoner rock. Blood Drive is a great example of the band’s harmonics and heavy riffs. Listen and get the new album on their bandcamp page, and tell them to call us.
After a long haul up the coast the 9-Ball Truck and the Roots Robot came to rest at the Monterey County Fairgrounds for the 4th annual California Roots Festival. So many smiles, new friends, and more reggae than you can shake a rasta colored stick at.
Between our beloved Casbah, a Colorado train ride, and the legend Leon Russel, our own Low Volts is in for one long dirty summer. If you find yourself between Durango or Mission Viejo be sure to buy our guy a drink and go get some tattoos. North East rockers, keep your ear out for more June dates coming soon...
If you stop by the Avett Brothers merch booth on their upcoming tour you’ll see their custom Sector 9 made Avett decks, but if you hang around the tour bus later you might even get to skate with them.See our friends this summer, at shows like Bottle Rock this weekend.
“It’s too hot, the lines are too long, it’s so dusty.” The Coachella Music and Arts Festival may be a little of those things, but we love music and art too much to care. Here are some images from Sector 9’s 3 days of escapism!
